Hi, are there any good 3d modeling tutorial type books out there. I remember someone posted a link to one a while ago.

What software do you use? Most of the big ones (Maya, Max Cinema 4D, and even blender...) have plenty of good books. Many also have tons of online tutorial videos, if you don't want to pay any money for a book.

Lol, books. Why buy a book when there's entire forums dedicated to 3d  modeling.

Ever heard of "internet"?  Like, the thing you're using right now?

Really, why waste money?

Because books can have all sorts of good information all in one place that you would have a hard time finding online. There are advantages either way, books on this sort of thing do tend to be expensive so it's not worth it unless it's a good book and you actually need it.

And honestly if you're looking for a book on modeling you'd have to be much more specific. There are many books on modeling, and many of them wouldn't do you much good.

Try going to a library, some of them have 3D art books.

If you're wanting learning materials to learn how to model, I highly suggest not buying books. I've purchased a few and I've found them to be quite a waste of money. Instead, I HIGHLY suggest procuring some of the gnomon workshop DVDs. Although many of them are for Max, the methods can be applied to any modeling app. Much better investment than a book.

Hmm I've looked at some of those Gnomon workshops videos, anyone else recommend them? They look good but they're ~~expensive.

Actually, I would prefer buying books as opposed to staring at a computer screen reading info - that said, to learn basic modeling I would rather use youtube for that. If it is Cinema 4D you need, there is a guy who composed a bunch of tutorial videos into one channel...

No, not John the Brick. I gotta find the link (somewhere in my friends list...)

HAHA!! http://www.youtube.com/user/3dbomb01

This is a collection of C4D tutorials from youtube - I don't think any of them belong to this guy, but I don't think people really care (I have one under the cloth category)
