Free 3D-Models for Dim3
« on: March 02, 2009, 02:11:58 AM »
Okay, here we go:
Everyone who wants to share his models with the community, please upload them and post the links here. Base-meshes, textured models, etc. Everything that goes under "3D-model". :) Please upload screenshots or renders, etc. and a thumbnail (100x200 px) for every model. You might use Imageshack.us.

Rules (your post should contain):
1 link to an image of the model (JPG or PNG)
1 link to a thumbnail (size: 100x200 px) for the image (JPG)
1 download-link for the model (the model has to be created by you!)
All models submitted will be made available for personal and commerical use as part of a dim3 game, or as personal use ONLY for any other project.

I will collect the files and list them with the download-links as a gallery in this post.

This is a high poly m-16 that i ended up not using in my game, since texturing would be such a beast.

I'll upload my untextured AK-47, as I don't plan on using it at all.
We really need to stress that these are only allowed use in dim3, so make that sentence bold or something and on a new line. ::)

You guys. From now on let's keep the posts to uploading. Otherwise this topic will turn into one giant conversation. That means (and @Nightblaze too) don't post that you are going to post a model. Just post the model. Though you have made a good point about the use of the models. People should specify the copyrights to their models when posted.

No, you can use the models anywhere, just not commercially except in a dim3 game. Anything less, and I say this would be a bad idea.

Imon: You should write this: "All models submitted will be made available for personal and commerical use as part of a dim3 game, or as personal use ONLY for any other project".

People should not be able to post their own copyrights, because otherwise we'll get a bunch of hideous/great models each with varying copyrights, and it will make people not want to use them at all.
If anybody posts a horrible model with a strict copyright, I will personally post a really, really good model of the same type with no restrictions at all. :P

The problem is, that Rapidshare allows 10 downloads only, if you are not paying for a premium account.

My untextured, unmapped AK-47 that I made for the model contest.

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?oeqkcgnja20
Format: .obj
Contains resource pictures, and rendered pictures.

Aside from that, I highly recommend Mediafire: free account that won't be deleted because its inactive, unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, file size limit is 100MB, and there is no download limit or wait time.  ;)

Or use filefront. I do, it's fantastic.

Here are some old textured models, already in .obj format, ready to use with dim3. I apologize for the bad quality, but my most recent models are not available for public use.
And yes, I copied your table system Imon. ;D

"Bad quality" don't be silly those models are awesome., though I do think it's odd that the 4th pistol down has the red dot sight mounted directly on the barrel.

Well, thanks. :)

Actually that's not a red dot sight, ala CoD4. That's an Infra-Red scope for heat. Still, you are right about the placement, unfortunately, at that time, I didn't really quite understand how guns worked.
