Notes on editor
« on: December 28, 2014, 09:47:02 AM »
As i start playing with Dim3d, I'm taking down notes and adding them here. I encourage others to add facts (not questions.) to this post.

 When viewing models.............................................

Scroll wheel zooms in and out.

Alt+lmb will rotate the view.

Spacebar+drag in window moves up, down, left, right
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
             When positioning bones.
Red line is x axis: Positive number is screen left. Negative number is screen right.

Green line is y axis: Negative number is up. Positive number is down

Blue line is z axis: Positive number goes back. Negative goes forward.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It appears that the only 2d picture format that can be used is .png
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Set bone: Attaches the selected verts to a bone.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mesh/scale: will scale just the mesh.
Model/scale: will scale the mesh and bones and hit boxes.

I dunno about the wiki but there's a docs link with every download: http://klinksoftware.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

EDIT: Yeah, that's the wiki. The old one Bink had on Site88 hosting is long gone. As far as I can tell though there's no real official list of editor navigation commands, so this could be a pretty useful thread for beginners I think :)

Supposedly all key commands have a corresponding menu command in the application menu bar, and the key command is stated there. But what should be done and what is done are two entirely different things. It's also worth noting that things like "hold spacebar and drag to pan" is definitely not in the menu bar.

Yup, http://klinksoftware.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page is the official wiki.  If there's a good list of missing key commands, let's get them all here and then I can add them to the wiki!
